We’re now Offering a Kitchen Waste Pick Up Service for Composting In Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex!

Date: By: Ben

Over the past year or two there have been constant gripes coming from our clients about how and where to get rid of their kitchen waste. Of course these can easily be thrown into compost bins in your garden but what about those who are living in the the towns and cities that are unable to. For some an option is to put them into ‘compostable bags’ which go into small bins especially made for a ‘regular’ pick up, but for others without this facility kitchen waste is thrown into regular kitchen bins and carted off straight into landfill.

I asked myself, why should we be using resources for pick up of waste that will be beneficial to the hundreds if not thousands of people who would be greatful to receive it once it’s been broken down into a nutritous mix of organic soil.

This is when I realised that i could help my community and the environment at the same time! Since then we’ve put the word out and have been picking up clients’ kitchen scraps and taking it away to be put to good use.

This service has quickly become popular with others who would tell their friends of the benefits of dropping your waste into our buckets on a schedule to suit them and having more room for what really can only be binned. Not to mention that they are the ones that are really helping the community by recycling their waste.

I haven’t mentioned composting before because i felt like it was more a personal choice and that is where it was left. Since getting feedback from clients and new customers about their interest in composting there is no doubt that it is bigger than i thought and we are now looking to offer this service throughout Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex.

At present we are offering pick ups in our BLL van which is run on diesel but we look to move to a more ozone friendly vehicle when the time is right.

Below are the materials we do and don’t take;

• Cooked foods
